In this edition of Our Nest, we’re meeting the creative force behind one of our favourite Bellway homeowner Instagram accounts, Vicky of @prettypinkplane. Having accumulated over 25,000 followers, it’s a place for Vicky to share snapshots of her beautiful Bellway Plane home and its fabulous pink and floral décor, which has been carefully and lovingly designed since the family moved in six years ago.
Vicky shares her home with her husband Chris, two children, and Beau the beagle, and with four bedrooms there’s space for everyone – even Beau has her own room! Vicky and Chris chose the Plane after outgrowing their previous property, a 1950’s semi-detached home that they completely renovated.

“We knew we either wanted to extend the home we were living in or buy a bigger home, and in the end we decided it would be best to move to somewhere else,” Vicky recalls.
“We were quite open to buying a new-build home or an older property, but when we looked at the Plane showhome we felt it was perfect for us. We couldn’t have designed it better ourselves.”

What attracted them to the Plane was the space, as this 4-bedroom Bellway house style boasts an open-plan kitchen and dining area with an adjoining family room, plus a utility room, and a separate living room.
“Our old house only had one bathroom, but here we have the main bedroom, plus two en-suites, and cloakroom downstairs – so it is much more practical.”

Securing their Bellway home was also stress-free, as Vicky and Chris took advantage of the exclusive Part Exchange scheme, and sold their home to Bellway so they could reserve their perfect plot sooner.
“It was a really simple process. I’ve sold a home in the past and it was nice to know this time around that nobody was going to back out. With Part Exchange we had the certainty of a guaranteed buyer, and didn’t have to pay any estate agent fees.”
Taking a new build interior from blank canvas to full bloom
It will come as no surprise that Vicky is responsible for their ultra-feminine home interior, with touches of pink found everywhere from the wall panelling and ceiling lights to the kitchen taps.

Accented with creative faux flower arrangements, floral patterned wallpaper and splashes of green and teal, the interior feels cohesive and is visually captivating, as tens of thousands of Instagram fans will agree.
“I love interior design, and I had the idea to make an Instagram account for the house because some of my friends had done the same thing. I made the account as soon as we reserved the property, but I never expected to gain as many followers as I have done!”

Vicky has a very hands-on approach to personalising her new-build home interior, and has tackled all manner of tasks including upcycling a mahogany china cabinet into a gin bar, reupholstering furniture, crafting a floral ladder light for above the dining table, and even learning how to lay herringbone tiles for a kitchen backsplash. Out of all the DIY projects, the one Vicky is most proud of is creating a dedicated bedroom for their beloved beagle.
“Our understairs cupboard was previously used as a dumping ground, but when we got Beau, we decided to convert it into a ‘bedroom’ for her. She still loves it now, and goes to bed in there every night.”

Asked about her favourite room in the home, Vicky found it hard to choose “because the house is perfect for us. I love the size of the bedrooms, as all of them are double-sized, and have ample space for wardrobes and other storage – especially ours, as it has a walk-through dressing area.
“But if I had to pick, I’d say the kitchen. It has an island which is fabulous; it’s where we spend most of our time as a family and it’s great for when people come to visit. It’s the hub of our home.”

Moving from a renovated property into a new-build Bellway home meant Vicky had the perfect blank canvas onto which to express her personality and design a home that makes her happy – and she’d encourage anyone moving into a brand-new home to do the same.
“If you’re decorating a new-build home, just go for it. It’s your home, and you should decorate it how you like.
“I’m a big fan of dopamine décor and I think your home should be filled with things you love and bring you joy!”
