Liberty Quarter enjoys a countryside setting. Within the Kings Hill development itself, there is an emphasis on green space, with combined walking and cycle routes known as greenways, connecting to Warren Woods Nature Park and Kings Hill Sports Park, among other places.
There is a definite sports vibe within the local community – Kings Hill has active cricket, football, cycling and tennis clubs; there’s running and fitness sessions – some of which take place outdoors – and a trim trail and a rugby pitch are in the pipeline. Grass and artificial grass pitches can be found at Kings Hill Sports Park (which also has a pavilion with café), and Kings Hill Golf Club is just a short walk away.
The village includes several parks and play areas for youngsters and older children, allotments, an art gallery housed within the former airfield’s control tower and a community centre – a hub for many village events.
Country parks nearby include Teston Bridge (15 minutes’ drive away), Manor Park (around five minutes’ drive away) and Leybourne Lakes (10 minutes’ drive away), which is home to a watersports centre, offering activities such as paddle boarding, kayaking and swimming.
Maidstone Leisure Centre, 11 miles away, boasts five swimming pools, a gym, fitness studios and a sports hall. The nearest multiscreen cinema is in Maidstone, and theatre lovers will find a comprehensive programme of entertainment at the town’s Hazlitt Theatre, including drama, live music, comedy and dance. Maidstone also offers a wide variety of wine bars, traditional pubs and eateries, catering to all tastes, from family-friendly cafés to fine dining restaurants.
