Blackthorn Walk enjoys semi-rural surroundings within the Gloucestershire countryside, joining the Hunts Grove community in Quedgeley. The development sits in the backdrop of the Cotswolds a few miles east, and consequently finds a plethora of scenic walks and local landmarks to explore a short journey away. With the River Severn flowing just west of this idyllic location, it isn’t difficult to see why this is such a popular area for relocation.

Hunts Grove Wood is a 12-minute walk away, with terrific woodland for nearby dog walking or outdoor exercise. Further afield, Stratford Park and the National Trust’s Haresfield Beacon and Standish Wood are within a 20-minute drive. The former is home not only to a stunning 17th century stately home, but state-of-the-art sports facilities.

The nearby city of Gloucester and spa town of Cheltenham both provide culture and leisure in abundance, with amazing architecture, landmarks, museums, and venues to discover.

Those with young families will be encouraged by the number of well-regarded schools local to the development, serving children of all ages.

Hunts Grove Primary Academy is a 10-minute walk from the development, and Hardwicke Parochial Primary School is a mile away. Additional options at this age can be found throughout Quedgeley and into Gloucester.

Secondary school options can be found here too, including Severn Vale School and Holmleigh Park High School which are an eight- and 15-minute drive away, respectively. Both journeys are aided by public transport routes, too.

Those pursuing further education will find several prestigious institutions in this part of the country, including the University of Gloucestershire. Bristol and Oxford are both commutable destinations which boast excellent universities.

A local bus service can be caught from Business Park bus stop, just six minutes’ walk away. Regular shuttles allow for easy local journeys through Quedgeley into Gloucester, plus as far south as Stroud.

Gloucester train station is a 20-minute drive away from the development, with regular rail services to a range of destinations including Bristol, Cardiff, Nottingham, and London Paddington, the latter taking under two hours.

For motorists, major nearby road links include the A38 a four-minute drive away and the M5 a six-minute drive away.

Bristol Airport provides superb destinations and connections worldwide, located an hour away.

Residents will find a number of handy nearby amenities, including a popular supermarket and café 10 minutes’ walk from the development, ensuring cupboards are easily stocked.

The Bumble Bee is a charming pub just over half a mile from the development, welcoming all members of the family including dogs, and serving a hearty traditional food menu. Quedgeley provides for wider shopping needs with several large supermarkets, plus a number of larger retailers condensed alongside the A38.

Gloucester offers an all-inclusive shopping and dining experience, with a pedestrianised retail centre, several shopping arcades including Eastgate and Gloucester Quays, and dockside dining.

Your monthly repayments

Repayment mortgage
What's this?
If you opt for a repayment mortgage, you will need to make monthly payments to your mortgage lender, which consist of a portion of the amount you originally borrowed (sometimes called the ‘capital balance’), as well as any interested that has been incurred on your loan.
Interest only mortgage
What's this?
Choosing an interest-only mortgage means that you will only need to make monthly payments towards the interest on the amount you originally borrowed. With this type of loan, you don’t need to repay any of the capital balance (the amount you borrowed to buy your home), for the duration of the interest only period.
