Oakfields Park is situated less than a mile south of Halstead town centre, and six miles north-east of Braintree town centre. Benefitting from nearby amenities, including Braintree Village outlet, the development has additional access to the rural surroundings of Essex’s farmland.
The countryside around is bustling with leisure, including museums, stately homes, sporting venues, and walking trails. The development can be accessed just off Oak Road, within a three-minute drive of the A131, and a 20-minute drive of the A12.
This development falls under the administration of Braintree District Council and Essex County Council.
Sitting on the semi-rural boundary of Halstead, Oakfields Park has an abundance of leisure opportunities within easy reach. Halstead town centre has a choice of fitness destinations under half an hour’s walk away, including Halstead Leisure Centre which benefits from an indoor swimming pool. Ramsey Road play area and skatepark is a 14-minute walk away, offering a great space for kids.
For keen golfers, Gosfield Lake Golf Club is under four miles away, with a less demanding nine-hole run as well as a traditional 18-hole course.
Dedham Vale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is around 30 minutes away in the car and contains a host of history and heritage to explore. The Stour Valley has several historically significant churches, as well as many sites of notable archaeological interest, with findings presented in local museums. Braintree – just six miles away – has a museum, a public library, and a cinema.
Both Halstead and Gosfield are served by several schools for those with young families to consider. Holy Trinity C of E Primary School and St Andrews Primary School are a six and eight-minute drive away, respectively.
For those of secondary school age, The Ramsey Academy is two miles away from the development and is served by local bus routes from Halstead High Street – a 24-minute commute. Gosfield School is a seven-minute drive away and provides an independent option built on a 110-acre estate – the school caters for children from nursery right through to sixth form.
Those looking to pursue higher education have several options within a commutable distance, including Colchester Institute’s Braintree Campus just 13 minutes’ drive away, as well as University Centre Colchester and University of Essex’s Colchester Campus both just over half an hour away. University of Cambridge, one of the world’s oldest and most prestigious higher education institutions, is an hour’s drive away.
Halstead is served well by bus routes making local travel simple, with White Horse Avenue bus stop being closest – just six minutes’ walk away, providing travel to Halstead, Braintree, and Colchester.
Braintree train station is a 15-miunte drive away providing Greater Anglia trains through to London Liverpool Street in around an hour, where tube and national rail connections are available.
London Stansted Airport, one of the largest in the country, is just 31 minutes’ drive away.
Oakfields Park has a well-known supermarket within a 10-minute walk, as well as a choice of others a short drive away for everyday essentials. Halstead High Street is a mile away from the development, and offers a varied choice of shops, cafés, pubs, and restaurants, with a mix on independent and familiar names.
The nearby town of Braintree offers comprehensive shopping, with a great selection of retailers in George Yard Shopping Centre, as well as affordable brands in Braintree Village outlet. London Liverpool Street is an hour on the train from Braintree station, and the capital offers world-famous shopping, culture, history, fine dining, and independent world cuisine, as well as some of the country’s most vibrant nightlife.
The Three Pigeons pub is a 15-minute walk from the development and offers a welcoming and friendly atmosphere just five minutes from the town centre.
