As part of the ongoing local developments, according to plans, there should be land allocated for a multi-use games area and sports pitches which will be within easy reach, as well as cycling and walking routes throughout the local area. There should also be additional funding for Heywood Sports village – 10-minutes away – which is already home to a gym, sports facilities, and a swimming pool.

Bowlee Country Park is a 24-minute walk away and offers 40 hectares of land for outdoor exercise. Hopwood Park is just a mile away for countryside walks, as well as tennis courts, sports fields, and a children's play area.

Manchester – just eight miles away – offers terrific culture, including a large selection of museums, art galleries, music venues, theatres, and sporting stadia. Manchester Art Gallery houses a collection that spans six centuries.

Hopwood Meadows has a selection of well-regarded schools within easy reach catering to children of all ages, including the planned construction of a primary school as part of the South Heywood Masterplan scheme, of which the development is a part of.

For those of primary school age, Hopwood CP School is an 18-minute walk away, backing onto Hopwood Park. St Joseph’s Roman Catholic primary school is under two miles away and is connected to St Joseph’s High School for a comprehensive schooling experience. Other high school options include Newhouse Academy – a 14-minute walk away – and Hazel Wood High School – 13 minutes’ drive away.

For those interested in pursuing higher education, Manchester – under half an hour’s drive away – is home to Russell Group university, University of Manchester. It is also home to some excellent vocational universities, including Manchester Metropolitan University and University of Salford.

The South Heywood area benefits from excellent local transport links helping to connect it to the local towns of Bury and Rochdale, as well as Manchester city centre. Middleton Road bus stop is an 18-minute walk away and provides regular routes to Bury and Manchester. Besses o’th’ Barn tram stop is a 12-minute drive away and offers quick and easy access into central Manchester.

Castleton train station is just an 11-minute drive away and provides Northern rail routes to several locations including Rochdale, Blackburn, and Leeds. Manchester Picadilly is around nine miles away and offers national rail links.

The development is under a minute’s drive from the M62, offering connections west towards Manchester, or east through to Leeds in around an hour.

Manchester Airport is a 27-minute drive away and is one of the UK’s busiest airports, as well as a regular recipient of best UK airport awards.
