Wellfield Rise is located on Wellfield Road in Wingate. It is seven miles from Hartlepool, nine miles from the centre of Durham and 24 miles from Newcastle upon Tyne. Major roads easily accessible from the development include the A19, which is a couple of minutes’ drive away, and the A1, which is around eight miles away.

Residents are just a short 10-minute drive away from Castle Eden Nature Reserve, a beautiful stretch of lush woodland spanning three-and-a-half miles. With picturesque rivers, paths and wildlife, it offers plentiful opportunities for entertaining walks. On the outskirts of the reserve lies a popular golf club, situated a mile away from the homes. For days spent at the beach, Seaham and Seaton Carew coastlines are around 10 miles away from the homes.

Shotton and District Angling Club is just three miles away, where keen anglers can fish among scenic surroundings. Around 20 minutes’ drive away are Hardwick Country Park and Preston Park, both of which are popular among locals due to their delightful landscapes and family-friendly activities. Preston Park is also the host of Butterfly World – a leafy butterfly habitat which visitors can walk through.

For time spent in the city, Durham is just over 10 miles away and Newcastle is 34 minutes’ drive away, with popular attractions including the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art, Discovery Museum, and Utilita Arena.

Those with children benefit from a range of popular schools in the local area. Primary schools include St Mary’s Roman Catholic Primary School situated two miles away and Wingate Junior Primary School, which is just over a mile away.

Secondary schools include Wellfield Secondary School and The Academy at Shotton Hall, both of which are around four minutes away when driving. For those interested in further education, Byron Sixth Form College and East Durham Sixth Form College are both just under 10 minutes’ drive away.

Nearby higher education providers include the prestigious Durham University just a short 15-minute drive away from the homes and the popular University of Sunderland, which takes 25-minutes when driving. Teesside University is just 17 miles away. The sought-after Newcastle University is 42 minutes’ drive away.

For everyday essentials, residents are a short 12-minute walk away from a local grocery store, with a popular superstore a 10-minute drive away.

Wellfield Rise is well-situated for retail. Dalton Park Outlet is just 13 minutes away from the homes when driving, with the popular shopping destination boasting many popular stores, a Cineworld, and renowned fast-food eateries. For other big names in retail, Teesside Shopping Park is around 16 miles away.

A plethora of well-loved eateries can be found in the local area, including Italian in neighbouring village Coxhoe, and traditional British food in Castle Eden and Peterlee.
