Families will find plenty of days out for exploring; the Elephant Trees viewpoint, Hamsterley Forest, Holliwood common quarry hiking route, and Hedleyhope Fell Nature Reserve are some of the many outdoor leisure destinations within the immediate surroundings of the development.

Wolsingham itself offers a plethora of sights and leisure, including historic buildings, a bowling green, a gym and public swimming pool, a recreation ground and skatepark, several prime picnic spots, and a heritage railway station.

Wolsingham has a primary and secondary school within the town, just a 10- and 17-minute walk away, respectively. Wolsingham School has been teaching on site for over 400 years, and both schools in the town boast excellent facilities.

Additional schooling options for children of all ages can be found in the neighbouring Tow Law, Crook, and Frosterley.

For those seeking to pursue higher education, Bishop Auckland college is 12 miles away offering apprenticeships and higher education opportunities. Durham University is one of the most prestigious institutions in the country, commutable within half an hour’s drive.

Wolsingham heritage railway station is under a mile away, a stop along the historic Weardale Railway line, with a 16-mile-long section of track from Bishop Auckland to Stanhope bringing passenger rail to the dale.

Bishop Auckland train station – an 18-minute drive away – is the western terminus on a Northern line through to Saltburn. Chester-le-Street station is 19 miles away, providing lines to destinations including Newcastle and Liverpool Lime Street.

Teeside International Airport and Newcastle International Airport are both within a 50-minute drive of the development for a range of destinations worldwide.

Residents are within a two-minute walk of a local convenience store and petrol station, ensuring everyday needs are well supplied.

Wolsingham town centre is also home to a more comprehensive independent retail and convenience store, several gift and antique stores, a local butcher, as well as a doctors surgery and pharmacy. A pub, café, and several eateries can also be found just minutes from the development.

Crook – a neighbouring town five miles to the east – offers additional choice, with a selection of popular supermarket brands. The town is also home to several retailers, and a greater variety of bars and restaurants for evenings out.

A retail park and shopping centre can be found in Bishop Auckland, ten miles away, while Durham – just half an hour’s drive away – offers unique and broad shopping and dining, with a number of award-winning restaurants and a thriving nightlife.
